Welcome to my world of makeup, sweet scents and real talk. You should always have a cuppa to hand and sit back and enjoy a little snippet of my world! A beauty and lifestyle blog for all, but as I like to say it's also 'brown girl friendly'. As a brown beauty myself I ensure that all product reviews that are complexion based really show what works on a deeper skin tone as well as showing what's being catered for brown beauties!

Hi loves!

Highlighters - a few years ago this used to be something we used to love to buy at the start of the school year, ensuring we had a fabulous rainbow selection for our pencil cases. Fast forward to today and we are still talking highlighters, and to be honest rainbow highlighters are still highly sought after, but this time instead of going into our pencil cases they're filling our makeup bags and just general makeup collection!

Now every company has come to the realisation that if you're not glowing, well, you're quite frankly not in the cool club! So of course the beauty market has become inundated with highlighters galore - from powders, to creams to liquids - you've got a highlighter to suit all of your application needs.

Cover FX are one of these companies that just knew to jump on that bandwagon - and boy did they. They recently released their Custom Enhancer Drops, which are basically a liquid metal! These are highlighters - to the extreme. They are a liquid highlighter, that have a metallic finish to them, and because of this a little definitely speaks volumes!

In the range they have four illuminators and two bronzers. I purchased two of the illuminators in Candle Light and Sunlight. Candle Light is more of a bronze/golden metallic illuminator, whilst Sunlight has more of a golden/champagne metallic colour to it. Each illuminator is placed in a glass bottle, with a pippet applicator. You receive 15ml/0.5 fl oz in each bottle.

So what do I think about these? Where do I start?! These have to be the most intense highlighters I have ever come across. As I said before, they literally are like liquid metal. A small amount is more than enough to achieve an intense glow. As these are a liquid, they have a thinner consistency, however not too thin that they sheer out when applied to the face. I love the fact that you can use these in multiple ways - as a face highlighter, added to your foundation or primer, added to your moisturiser for an all over body glow, as an eyeshadow... so as the name suggests they are customisable. These are great for layering too, so I'd suggest that you start with a little and build up your intensity.

As a traditional highlighter, I apply these using my fingers initially and then go in with a dampened beauty sponge. I find that you need to work quite quickly with these products as they tend to dry quite quickly. I also found this to be the same when I applied it to my foundation.

One major issue I have with these products is the price point. For such an intense glow, you'll be forking out £34/$42 per bottle. This is quite a steep price point and the only reason I would not repurchase this. However, I have to say that despite the price point and the small amount of liquid you receive, I don't see how anyone could finish this - even the highlighter queens out there!

Now for deeper skin tones I think the best option is Candle Light. The other shades have more of an icy finish to them, which can appear too striking on a darker skin tone. Also the shade Candle Light is the best for applying to your foundation and moisturiser without making it appear ashy.

*These are 'clinically tested. Paraben, fragrance, gluten, mineral oil and talc free. Vegan'. Made in Italy and have a shelf life of 12 months.
