Welcome to my world of makeup, sweet scents and real talk. You should always have a cuppa to hand and sit back and enjoy a little snippet of my world! A beauty and lifestyle blog for all, but as I like to say it's also 'brown girl friendly'. As a brown beauty myself I ensure that all product reviews that are complexion based really show what works on a deeper skin tone as well as showing what's being catered for brown beauties!

I've heard nothing but great things about these liquid lipsticks from Beauty Bakerie, so I had high expectations! Let's start from the beginning. Beauty Bakerie is a USA black owned brand that embraces the sweet and friendly nature of makeup - rejecting the 'bad ass' route the industry seems to be going. Reading about the company, it appears that the owner 'Cashmere' wants to live life to the full and as bright as possible after battling through some hardships. Their website seems to reflect this as it appears light, bright and fun.

New liquid lipsticks are released almost weekly, so when I heard about the company Beauty Bakerie I was intrigued by their *Lip Whip formula. I recently purchased three new liquid lipsticks from their range. A regular matte and two new metallic finishes.

I would love to give a glowing review of these products that reflect the overall aesthetics of the company - but I'm going to have to say that this one sadly will be a mixed bag.

Let's start with the original matte formula. I purchased the shade Raspberry Tiramisu Lip Whip which is a very deep berry colour in the packaging. On initial application I noticed that these were not as opaque as I thought they would be. This particular colour was actually quite sheer and I had to coat my lips three times for me to get the desired deep berry shade I was expecting. Another disappointment for me was the actual wear of these lip whips. Don't get me wrong - these are very long wearing, however I did find that they slightly crumbled during the day and therefore wore off in parts and became patchy.

The other two lip whips are the new metallic formulas. I purchased the shades Space Cake (a metallic navy blue shade) and Cinnamon Roll (a metallic brown copper shade) which are both pictured below.

Unfortunately I'm not a fan of this lip whip formula. I find that they are very thin and patchy when applying and I have to apply about 5 layers to get an opaque finish. The instructions on the website says that you need to wait for 5 minutes before applying the next layer. To be completely honest, these are a complete disappointment to me. For me personally, any product I have to wait for 5 minutes before layering, is too much faffing around!  Also the simple fact that I have to keep layering these makes them uncomfortable to wear.

If I were to choose my preferences between the original matte finish and the metallic, I would say that the original matte is definitely a much better formula. It feels a lot more comfortable to wear, despite the layering. As these dry down completely matte, they can be a bit of a challenge to remove but that's easily resolved with an oil based remover.

One thing I have to say that I love about Beauty Bakerie is their packaging. They resemble a whipped product on the plastic which is great! The lip whips do not seem to have a sweet scent to them which I was a little surprised about, in fact they seem to have a more chemical scent to them.

These lip whips retail for £14.95 from Love Makeup, which is where I purchased mine from.

Have you tried these? Let me know what you think!

  1. I have one in the Matte formula and enjoy it. I have a nude shade so it'a harder to describe the wearability as it looks ok anyway ;) It lasted 10 hours on me on a busy day. I only had lunch and lots of coffee tho x

    1. Ah cool. I've lots of people say they love the formula but it doesn't work for me. As for having to layer after 5 minutes that's too much work lol x
